THE WOMEN CHANGING THE FACE OF CONSERVATION

We refer to Mother Nature as Her, yet so many of Her stories are told through a male lens.

Her Wild Life reclaims Her voice in the first docuseries of it’s kind.

There is an army of women around the world; scientists, doctorates, environmentalists, activists, anti-poaching patrol leaders… unstoppable women taking multi-million dollar palm oil corporations to court.

They are dedicating their lives to protect their land, and some of our world’s most at-risk species and habitats. Her Wild Life tells their stories. Filmed, directed, and produced by an all-woman team of award-winning wildlife and conservation filmmakers. We’re taking the space and telling these stories of our sisters. Our stories.

Her Wild Life Docuseries Trailer

Shot on RED cinema cameras, indulge your soul in tender and intimate scenes of our world’s at-risk species and stunning spaces of natural history. Each episode of Her Wild Life dedicates 40 minutes to intimate footage of Nepal’s Greater One-horned Rhinos, Tigers, Sumatran Elephants, and Costa Rica’s shy sloths.

Rare glimpses of our world’s at-risk wildlife, layered with uplifting life-winning stories of the incredible women who are at the frontier of local environmental and conservation efforts to protect them.

EPISODE 01

Nepal

The remarkable story of Doma Paudel, Nepal’s first female nature tour guide. She safeguards families from Nepal’s wildlife by day, and protects species from illegal poachers by night.

Having faced the tragedy of losing her own Mother to a tragic rhino attack, she channeled her grief into a lifelong commitment to safeguarding Nepal's rhinos and tigers. Doma's work extends to rehabilitating and rewilding orphaned baby rhinos, and collaborating with Nepal's army to orchestrate village-wide, anti-poaching patrols.

EPISODE 02

Costa Rica

Our team is invited to document a groundbreaking study in Costa Rica. The Great Sloth Census is the world’s first comprehensive sloth population census. Under the guidance of Dr. Rebecca Cliffe, with support from her team, (including a specially trained sloth detective dog), they are on a mission to count every sloth dwelling in Costa Rica.

Sloths have evolved to remain elusive in the jungle, yet this episode offers rare and intimate encounters with these ancient creatures, bringing us up close to their enigmatic world.

EPISODE 03

Sumatra

We join a team of conservationists led by Farwiza Farhan, who are working to protect the Leuser Ecosystem in North Suatra, Indonesia. This is the only place remaining on Earth where tigers, rhinos, orangutans and Sumatran elephants coexist in the wild.

As a woman in a country with significant gender inequality, Farwiza defied all odds when she won a court case against a palm oil corporation, winning an unprecedented US$26 million in damages. She is using this to fund vital conservation efforts to protect critically endangered wildlife in her homeland.

An Award-Winning All Woman Team

Jocelyn Stokes and Katie Schuler have collectively filmed wildlife and conservation projects in over 50 countries.

Stokes’ work as a filmmaker, wildlife biologist, and naturalist guide serves as an excellent complement to Schuler’s award-winning work documenting the relationship between humans and wildlife.

A little magic happens…

when an all-women film crew are invited into our world’s more isolated and remote communities.

Stories are told. Secrets shared. In safe spaces. In sisterhood, in villages, with the matriarchs. These are the storytellers.

This is where the truth is revealed.

Impact

The impact of Her Wild Life expands beyond a docuseries. This is not a one-off project for us. It’s a lifelong dream, realized.

As conservation filmmakers, our careers and skills are in service and dedication to supporting sustainability and wildlife conservation initiatives worldwide. For as long as we can. Our online platform will share inspiring stories of women-powered projects from all over the world, beyond those we are able to feature in episodes.

Through continued fundraising, practical and organizational support, our relationships with all projects featured in the docuseries will continue long after each episode has wrapped. We invite you to submit women-led projects that you believe we (and the world) need to know about.

Follow our team behind the scenes.
